#ToddTalks

Community and connection — that's been the driving force of Liquidrum from the get go. Since 2015 we've been building a vibrant community of musicians and artists by creating and sharing videos, blog posts, and social media content. And we've loved connecting with the community via these platforms. But we want to take things a step further.

We're thrilled to announce the launch of our latest initiative, #ToddTalks. These online sessions include career and professional development, coachings and masterclasses, and advanced individual lessons. All delivered by Liquidrum founder, Todd Meehan.

Career and Professional Development

These sessions focus on unlocking creativity, artistic goal setting, and strategic planning & implementation. What are your perceived career choices in music or the arts? How do your creative and artistic desires align with these choices? Which of your learned skill sets are most important for finding success on whichever path you choose? What did or didn't your time in school most prepare you for? And how does your online presence (social media, website, video platforms) amplify your creative voice?

We dig deep into these questions and others to establish a clear, concise vision for your professional artistic career. Participants are required to fill out a pre-session webform that will gather necessary professional background information and help facilitate the discussion. Following the session, participants will receive a one-page discussion summary as well as a succinct action plan, if applicable. Additionally, when Zoom is used for video communications, each participant will receive a link to the video, audio, and text recording files of the session for download or streaming.

Specs:

  • 90 minute online session
  • Zoom is the preferred video communications platform (link will be provided to connect)
  • must have reliable high speed internet
  • cost = $150 per session

Coachings and Masterclasses

These sessions most often follow the traditional flow of live chamber music coachings or percussion masterclasses. Well suited for percussion departments at the college or secondary levels, coachings & masterclasses allow for meaningful interactions with a larger group of students or individuals. Chamber music coachings can include small, medium, or large ensembles playing percussion-specific or mixed chamber works. Masterclass topics may include solo and chamber percussion repertoire, orchestral accessory playing, writing, commissioning, and entrepreneurship, among others.

PDF versions of all pertinent scores may be requested prior to the session. Following the coaching or masterclass, active participants will receive a written summary of comments and suggestions.  Additionally, when Zoom is used for video communications, participants will receive a link to the video, audio, and text recording files of the session for download or streaming.

Specs:

  • 60-90 minute online sessions
  • Zoom is the preferred video communications platform (link will be provided to connect)
  • must have reliable high speed internet
  • must use quality external microphone for all performance-based interactions
  • a quality external camera is preferred, but not required
  • cost = $200-250 based on session length

Advanced Individual Lessons

Advanced individual lessons, online. Plain and simple. The only caveat is this — for these sessions to be as beneficial as possible, it is crucial that participants are in the final stages of preparing repertoire. This means that pieces to be performed are thoroughly learned, generally well executed, and ready for outside critique. Examples include individuals preparing for college and festival auditions (undergrad, grad, post-grad), competitions, recitals, or recordings. All solo and orchestral repertoire is welcomed.

PDF versions of all pertinent scores may be requested prior to the lesson. Following the lesson, participants will receive a written summary of comments and suggestions.  Additionally, when Zoom is used for video communications, participants will receive a link to the video, audio, and text recording files of the lesson for download or streaming.

About Todd Meehan

Hi, I'm Todd! In addition to running the juggernaut of a percussion company Liquidrum, I serve as the Associate Professor of Percussion and Division Head of Instrumental Studies at Baylor University. I have over 15 years experience teaching at the university level, mentoring young percussionists, and helping musicians identify and grab hold of their dreams. As a performer, I've run all over the world playing with good friends and colleagues in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings. I was a founding member of So Percussion many moons ago and have been making sweet contemporary chamber music with my buddy Doug Perkins for over a decade with the Meehan/ Perkins Duo. I love orchestral playing and have had a range of experiences therein, including performances with the Waco, Austin, and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestras, as well as a couple of formative years as a student at the Pacific Music Festival and the International Festival-Institute at Round Top. More than anything, I love hanging out with my wife and kids, dreaming about travel, and scheming new ways to make the classical music industry a better place to exist.
